Greely is the most rural area we serve regularly, and cleaning out here
is a genuinely different job from cleaning in the city.
The first difference is the water. Homes in this part of Ottawa are on
private wells rather than municipal supply, and well water carries more
minerals. That shows up as limescale on faucets and shower glass, and
often as rust-coloured staining in toilets, tubs and sinks. It isn’t
dirt and it doesn’t come off with a standard wipe. Left alone it builds
until it looks permanent, which is why we treat fixtures here
differently than we would in Barrhaven or Alta Vista.
The second is size. Greely is executive homes on large lots, and the
square footage is well above what we see elsewhere in the city. More
bathrooms, more floor, more surfaces. Our standard pricing tiers assume
a typical suburban home, so quotes out here are usually custom.
The third is what comes through the door. Long driveways, gravel,
country roads and, around Sunset Lakes, water right there. Entryways,
mudrooms and the first ten feet of every floor take the brunt of it,
especially through spring.
