Bells Corners is mostly bungalows, and that changes the job more than
people expect. Lynwood Village went up between 1950 and 1966 as one of
Ottawa’s first tract housing developments, and a lot of those original
homes are still standing with their original layouts.
Single storey means no stairs to work around, which sounds easier and
often is. What takes the time instead is age. Original bathrooms with
tile and grout that have been in place for sixty years don’t respond to
the same approach as a five-year-old ensuite. Cast iron tubs, older
fixtures and painted trim all need a lighter hand and more patience.
Westcliffe Estates is a different job again. Built from 1969 onward at
much higher density, it’s apartments, multi-storey blocks and co-op
housing rather than detached homes, so we’re often working in smaller
units with tighter access and shared entrances.
Bells Corners also has more retirement residences than most parts of
Ottawa, and a good share of our work here is regular recurring cleaning
for people who’d rather not be doing it themselves anymore. That work
runs on consistency: same cleaner, same day, no surprises.
