Findlay Creek is still being built. Development started in 2003 and the
population doubled between 2011 and 2016 alone, with new phases still
going up. That single fact shapes most of what we deal with here.
Active construction means dust. Not the everyday kind, the fine grey
kind that comes off graded lots and gets tracked through entryways,
settles on baseboards and window sills, and reappears two days after a
clean. Homes backing onto a phase that’s still being framed need more
frequent attention than their square footage suggests, and we’d rather
say that upfront than have you wondering why.
The other thing is variety. Unlike neighbourhoods where one developer
built everything, Findlay Creek has homes from Tartan, Tamarack,
Claridge, eQ, Phoenix, Richcraft and Urbandale. Layouts, finishes and
fixtures change street to street, so we don’t assume anything walking
in.
A good share of our work here is first cleans on brand new homes.
Builder cleans are usually quick passes, and the drywall dust that
settles inside cabinets, in window tracks and on top of trim tends to
survive them. If you’ve just taken possession, that’s the clean you
actually want before you unpack.
And backing onto the Leitrim wetland is lovely, but a lot of homes here
sit next to conservation land and a 500 metre boardwalk, which means
more mud, more grit and more of it arriving on shoes in spring.
